Qatar and Turkey joined efforts and sent 33 truckloads of flour to Syrians
Istanbul, TR – 08 Jan 2013 – IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and Qatar-RAF Foundation have sent 850 tons of flour to crisis-hit Syrians.
{jcomments on}Departing from Istanbul on 3rd of January 33 trucks-convoy carrying 850 tons of flour arrived Hatay, Kilis and Urfa, Turkish border cities to Syria on Saturday. The supplement distributed to Syrian refugees as well as people living in Aleppo, Hama, Homs, rural Damascus and Latakia.
Speaking at the press conference that was held before departing of the relief convoy, IHH President Bülent Yıldırım said “We saw many wars and massacres, many people suffering in crisis countries but the worst of all is happening in Syria. Syria is where human being has nothing left to say. People are cold, hungry and dying.” Yıldırım also added that his foundation aims to send 1,000 truckloads of aid to Syria and 100 trucks have already been loaded with aid items.
Representatives of Qatari charitable organization RAF, the other partner of the relief convoy also took place at the press conference. Stating that they launched a campaign called “Damascus Calling Us” in Qatar; RAF’s Muhammed Salah said “Our effort is a response to Syrian people’s call for help. Everyone in our country has mobilized for them. We thank IHH for helping us in this relief effort.”
Bread and Blanket for Syria
IHH is intensifying its efforts to take relief to Syrian people. In this regard, it continues to produce joint projects with relief organizations in Turkey and abroad to take fundamental relief items such as flour, food and cleaning supplies to Syria.
