The countdown to the Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show on Thursday, 11 October, 2012 is now under way. Just weeks remain for ladies to obtain invitations for one of the most eagerly awaited annual fashion extravaganza in Dubai; organised by Dubai Ladies Club, a member of Dubai Women Establishment. This year will also mark fifth edition of this pioneering fashion show; and will be transformed into a ‘pink’ fashion haven in the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  This event has been sponsored by Clarins cosmetics, and supported by Lazurd catering company.

First launched in 2008, the Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show is a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting young emerging Emirati designers and advancing their careers through extensive media exposure and introductions to key local & international clientele. Each year, aspiring Emirati designers are nominated to rise to the challenge of conceiving ‘The Next Big Trend’ in Khaleeji fashion. This year will launch the collections of three talented Emirati designers for the first time. They are Lamia Abdulaziz & Bodour Khoory (Jalabiyas collection), Asma Bin Suloom (Abayas collection), Fatma Al Falasi (Ready-to-Wear collection); who were selected based on their high level of creativity, marketability, workmanship, fabric suitability and overall appeal. Moreover, each designer will also introduce a never-seen-before ‘pink’ ensemble piece to highlight Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Muna Bin Kalli, Executive Director of Dubai Ladies Club said, “The Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show was launched as an important platform to identify local talents and help them start and grow sustainable fashion businesses. Five years later, we are delighted to see that this event is universally recognized as a vital showcase to propel the next generation of amazing Emirati designers into complete success and full operation by giving them much needed exposure. Moreover, this event underscores Dubai Ladies Club’s continued commitment to serve as an incubator of young entrepreneurs by connecting and inspiring them.”

The Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show has been a launch pad for a number of distinguished local fashion designers such as Sumayyah Al Suwaidi, Maryam Selaich, Madeyya Al Mazrouei, Sultan Al Darmaki, Hessa Al Falasi, Hanadi Badu, Moza Al Mazrou, Halima Al Sayegh, Mariam Al Mazrou, Fatima Al Hashimi, Athija Al Mazroui, Reem Beljafla, Fatima Al Qassimi and Fatima Al Tunaiji, who have gone on to accomplish even greater things.
