Marrying the modern and the classic in the Muscat Fashion Week
The 23 February witnessed the launch of the first fashion week in the Omani capital Muscat, as part of the Muscat Festival, with the participation of a large number of Arab and Asian designers.
The first day showed the works of four designers: the Lebanese fashion designer Robert Abi Nader, his creations were characterized with elegant lines, which reflecting universality and modernity, Omani fashion designer Nawal Hooti fashions, reflected her interest in the traditional Omani fashion and the legacy of the area history . While Saudi designer, Amina Al Jassim, known for her inclination to choose very special fabrics adopted the Bedouin colours, focussing on black, red and orange, as well as using accessories of silver. The first day of the fashion shows ended with the creations of Afghani fashion designer Zareefa.
The duo Omani designer sisters — Afaf and Aida known for their label ‘Dibaj’ used luxury fabrics and classic cuts. Infusing sensuality into the conservative and yet feminine style of designing.
The programme of the fashion show took into consideration the preference of the audience, thus making the 21 February 2012 (a Women only show). Showing the fashions designed by Ayesha Depala from India, Nawal al Hooti, from Oman, Amina Al Jassim from Saudi Arabia and Hanaa Al Wahaibi from Oman. While Wednesday show of 22 February 2012 (was for Couples only). The show included designs for Kubra Al Qaseer from Bahrain, Siham Tib from Morocco, Monica Paracha from Pakistan and Amal Al Raisi from Oman.
Today, Thursday, 23 February 2012 is planned also for (Couples only) where fashion designers participants will be Kanzi from UAE, Hany El Behairy from Egypt , though he apologized for health reasons, Hassan Mardash from Egypt and Shria Dibaj from Oman.
