Jordanian Disabled PhD Graduates Seeking Humanitarian Asylum
Jordanian PhD Graduates who are suffering disability have decided a sit-in in front of the Swedish Embassy next Monday the 19th of September.
Dr. Abdul Salam Zouaydi , a Jordanian media activist told Alrai online that the protesters will demand humanitarian asylum in Sweden because they are suffering marginalization and recruitment discrimination by the Heads of Jordanian universities who are ignoring their demands to be offered the chance of employment at the universities, especially when they meet all the academic criteria.
Knowing the size of disability in Jordan and determining its scope, prevalence and characteristics are still not agreed upon according to The Higher Council for Affairs of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan, While according to the Department of Statistics 2010 data, it indicate that the rate of disability in Jordan is (2%), 82.2 per cent of them are unemployed.
