The cost of praying in Jerusalem
In reality it takes half a minute to actually cross between
the two points separating Palestinians from Ramallah barrier to the next checkpoint
in Jerusalem. This half a minute forces Palestinians in the fasting month of
Ramadan to cue from 5:00am to obtain a special permit from the Israeli occupying
forces, to cross that point to pray at the Al-Aqsa Mosque
{jcomments on} on the last Friday of
Ramadan. Only half a minute forces them to cue at the Qalandiya checkpoint from
five in the morning. Talk about Israhell, the so-called ‘only democracy in the
Middle East’, as described by some politicians, which discriminates against a
group of people based on their faith.
Some, lose their patience and resort to climbing the apartheid wall.
